Choosing the right font can be difficult to say the least, get it right and your artwork looks great but get it wrong and you can send completely the wrong message. Luckily there are a number of interesting typography pieces that I’ve come across recently to help you match up your needs and even your personality to just the right font. Nice.
Type geeks rejoice! This periodic table of fonts is the creation of Squidspot, displaying typefaces in an ingenious and gorgeous way. However, with each cell displaying the typeface, its designer, year of creation and popularity ranking this is much more than just a beautiful poster for the wall. Freely available to download and print from the website, the vector artwork is also available for a donation of your choosing. ¡Ademas está disponible en español, que bueno!
So, there’s picking the right typeface for your artwork and then there’s selecting the right font to reflect your personality. Luckily Pentagram have come up with an interactive site to help you do just that… Click here to visit the site.
My final typography nugget to offer you is ‘Typography Primer’ from Adobe. An informative guide with, I’ll bet, a useful tip for any type enthusiast. Click here to view it.
And no Comic Sans in sight, phew.
Thanks to Tom and Charmian for bringing these into my/our world.
